super mario level design i drew when i was a kid - probably around 1990?
i have like a ton of this stuff, but it’s not really interesting enough to scan a bunch.
When I was a kid a friend and I designed an entire sequel to Super Mario Bros called Super Hammer Bros. This was before SMB2 came out. He told me Pitfall Harry was based on a fan idea and we thought if we sent them this idea they would naturally make it into a real video game.
In it you get to play a hammer brother and save girl turtles (who look just like regular Koopa Troopas) from the mushroom kingdom. Power-up mushrooms looked like goombahs. I didn’t save ANY of that stuff.
A Paper Mario-style RPG… wherein the princesses of two different kingdoms get word that the other princess needs to be rescued, and they simultaneously set out to rescue… each other.
Like how Paper Mario would switch between the viewpoints of Mario and Peach, this game would switch between the two princesses, culminating in the final chapter where it’s revealed they were tricked into being captured by…. another princess! Or something like that
